Blake subtitled his Songs of Innocence and of Experience “Showing the two contrary states of the Human Soul,” and he believed that both states are privileged with perceptions of truth, but that these are inevitably incompatible with each other. Many of the Songs of Experience are explicitly written as companion poems to those in his Songs of Innocence—“The Tyger,” “The Chimney Songs of Innocence and of Experience audiobook, by William Blake Songs of Innocence and of Experience is a collection of 45 poems by English poet William Blake.
